Realizing arbitrary quantum operations on a mechanical oscillator

My work in this thesis is to achieve high coupling between the quantum states of a transmon qubit, and those of a superlattice phononic cavity resonator fabricated at the INSP. Our final goal is to be able to perform elementary quantum operations on our transmon-phononic cavity system. Such operations on a macroscopic system would constitute a milestone towards understanding the limits between the classical and the quantum world. Moreover, phononic qubits have the potential to be the building blocks of a quantum computer.
