The QICS tutorials

This monthly event gathers all PhD students in quantum information at Sorbonne University alliance every first Wednesday of the month to discover the different theses of the community. It is also sometimes initiated in order to create cross laboratory collaborations.

The QICS tutorials

Seminars by and for QICS doctoral and post-doctoral students only

The Quantum Information Center Sorbonne (QICS) aims to coordinate research, teaching, and awareness efforts within the Sorbonne University Alliance on quantum information—quantum computing and communications—as well as its impact in other fields. It brings together a broad community ranging from computer science to physics, mathematics and human sciences.

QICS is dedicated to increasing the interaction between experimental and theoretical research and engineering, while exploring the societal implications of this new approach to information processing.
The objective of QICS is to promote excellence in research, collaborative work and to federate the community within the Sorbonne University Alliance.

It is in this context that QICS proposes to initiate inter-doctoral/post-doctoral seminars of the Sorbonne University Alliance so that its members can discover the vast range of research topics related to quantum information.

Objective:

This monthly event aims to bring together PhD and post-doctoral students working on various and diverse topics of quantum information in order to discover the wide spectrum of research. Through this interdisciplinarity, they will be able, on the one hand, to complete and share their knowledge, and on the other hand, to develop collaborations and joint projects.

Concretely, our mission is to allow PhD and postdoctoral students to meet, to work together and to open the quantum community to other scientific fields. Therefore, people from other research fields are welcome, and are invited to present us the possible synergies between their work and quantum information.

Seminars format:

This formula, short, friendly and allowing to favor interactions and informal moments, is declined as follows:
— two talks, including 10 minutes of description of the project and 10 minutes of questions;
— every first Wednesday of the month, at the end of the morning from 11:45 to 12:30;
— 10 slides maximum;
— in a QICS laboratory lecture hall;
— followed by lunch in a more informal atmosphere to continue the discussion.

How to participate:

Send your proposal to qics@sorbonne-universite.fr with the following information:
— Name and first name
— Laboratory and team to which you belong
